THE CYCLE OF PRAYER - EASTERTIDE

During Easter, we are asked to pray for these intentions:

FAIR TRADE

Our new fair trade stall is open this weekend. we. also have some new fruit and nut mixes on sale this month. Why not try them and let us know what

they are like. Over the last 12 months you have bought over £4,500 worth of Traidcraft goods. Well done.

 

MEMORIAL SERVICE

At 3pm today we are hosting the Royal Hospital Chaplaincy's annual Memorial Service for Babies. This is for relatives who have lost a child but all are welcome.

 

WELCOME BACK

Fr. Jude is returning to St Joseph’s this week he will be here from Monday to Friday and will come back to celebrate Mass on the 28th & 29th April.

 

SICK & RETIRED PRIESTS

Next weekend there will be a retiring collection for the sick &- retired priests of the diocese. The fund remains open until 6th May for individual and group donations.

 

MILL HILL MISSIONS

Next weekend Fr. Frank Graham will be celebrating Mass with us and making an appeal for more of us to take a Red Mission Box.

 

The zealators who collect the money from the Red Mission Boxes will be calling during the month of April to empty them. Once again many thanks to everyone who has a Mission Box and all our collectors. Hopefully the next time they collect they will either have to collect from more homes and/or we will have more zealators.

 

ANGELUS LUNCH CLUB

Our next lunch (and 92nd Birthday celebration) is on Wednesday, 18th April. To help with catering, please let us know if you are NOT able to come.



WALKIN' HOPE-'Love one Another', 28 & 29th APRIL

This year the conference is earlier to avoid clashing with exam times. The main speaker is Fr Stan Fortuna from the Bronx in New York. Bishop Kevin is also joining us, he had heard the conference was so good last year that he didn't want to miss out. We have also had a word with S.A.F.C and they have kindly moved Sunderland's home game to Friday evening so all you footy fans can come along. The Parish is again providing a free bus from St Josephs to Blackfriars on Saturday and Sunday. Please pick up a registration form and sign your name on the list at the back of church if you would like free travel. Both forms are available for the until next week.

 

AFRICAN MASS

The next African Mass is being celebrated on Sunday, 29th April at 2pm in St. Joseph's Gateshead.. Fr. Jude will be leading the celebration. There is a liturgy practice for this Mass on Monday, 23rd April at 6pm in St. Joseph's Parish Centre, Gateshead. Refreshments are available after the Sunday Mass. All are welcome.

 

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS FOR PARISH CENTENARY



Sunday 6th May -1p.m.

A Murder-Mystery performed by Dreambox Theatre Company for children up to about 13 years.- Party afterwards! - It's FREE, a generous gift from the Parish to help celebrate our centenary. Please sign up at the back of church as soon as possible, numbers are limited due to space. Parents are asked to come along and help out and to provide a shared table.



Sat 19th May - 11a.m.

Mass for sick and elderly; lunch will be served after Mass in the Social Centre.



Fri 28th September

Concert in church with the Cobweb Orchestra and Music Makers.

 

Thurs 11th -14th October

Parish Flower Festival to finish off our year long celebrations ending on Sunday 14th October at 3pm with Centenary Mass. Bishop Kevin will be the main celebrant.
