CAFOD/JUSTICE&PEACE—''THE PROGRESS OF PEOPLES ''
Pope Paul VI on private ownership ( 1967 ) :
'' 'If people are rich but shut their eyes to those who stand in need, the love of God is missing from their hearts.' ( 1 Jn. 3 : 17.. 95)' If people are rich and give help those who stand in need, they only give the poor what is already theirs. The earth was made for all, not just for the rich. ' So wrote St. Ambrose (339-397 AD). The Church has always taught that private property is not an absolute, unbridled right. Those who have money can not just spend as they please, or speculate regardless of the way that others are affected. And when private ownership of modern industry admits no social obligations, and claims unbridled freedom, the way is clear that leads to the tyranny wealth. The present situation demands great courage as we fight against injustice. It calls for radical reform without. All must play their part, according to their gifts, and give of their possessions; for the Gospel a ferment, stirring in the human heart a fierce regard for human dignity.''''Thy Kingdom come: Thy Will be done: on earth as in Heaven.''
Mass in Polish will be celebrated at 4 pm on the 4th Sunday of every month in St. Benet’s Church Sunderland. Confessions before at 3.30 pm. Refreshments after Mass in the Parish Hall.
