Parish Pastoral Council St Joseph, Millfield, Sunderland
 

Minutes of a meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council 12th December 2005.

Present Fr. Gordon, R. Nidea, J. Thompson, S. Thomas, G. Joseph, D. English, G. Murphy, M. Murphy.

Apologies for absence were received from J. Fagan, A. Earl

It was agreed that Diane English would be Chair, J. Thompson Vice-Chair, M. Murphy Secretary.

Matters Arising
The Journey in Faith for Baptism and First Communion has finished. A further course will begin in January.

The Bereavement Group has ten members. Visits are made to those parishioners who have recently been bereaved and a card is sent on the anniversary of the death.

The council were informed that the application for a new school building had been rejected by DfES. Because of Health and Safety issues, the school will be updated and brought up to standard. An architect is to be contacted to provide possible upgrading.

The cricket match in the summer was a great success, as was the football match.

Fairtrade is going from strength to strength. However the Justice and Peace group do need new members.

Formation. Evangelisation and Worship
The Children's Liturgy Group had continued during the church refurbishment, using the facilities at St Marks.

It was decided that a meeting be held on 15th January 2006 to talk about the process of evangelisation and worship. All groups, including Eucharistic ministers, readers, welcomers, music group, will be asked to attend.

Social and Community
The Angelus Club had requested funding for transport of the elderly to the Parish Centre. The council suggested they approach Mr John Ford for funding from the SRB.

The ceihli, which had been held at St Aidan's school had been a success. It was noted the caretaker at the school had been most helpful.

A meeting is to be held for those groups involved in the social and community element of the pariSh on Sunday 5th February.

Building and Finance
The refurbishment of the church is almost complete and will be ready when Bishop Kevin comes on 14th December to re-commission the church. It was noted that the refurbishment had been paid entirely from parish funds.
